25 Year Old Scotch

175 full years of Scotch whisky to be enjoyed here! And not just any Scotch whisky: the very BEST, covering the entire map of Scotland, from Islay to Orkney, Speyside and the Lowlands, single grain and malts, smoky or not. This class is a rare treat, and requires prior understanding of high-caliber Scotches. During this class, you will learn about the old ways of making whisky in Scotland and get to appreciate the current trends in light of an industry’s natural and forced evolution. 25 years is a benchmark of course, but it is even more so relevant nowadays since very old whiskies really started to appear 25 years ago or so…when stocks were high and demand low but the juice had to be bottled…older became better! Beyond the excitement of drinking very old whisky, this tasting brings light to the wonders of maturation: you’ll know everything there is to know about the stuff! Prerequisite reading: Compton Mackenzie’s Whisky Galore and Edward Burns’ Bad Whisky.
