Join Char No 4 this Thursday, March 6th for a 4 course duck dinner with whiskey pairings and anecdotes from Smooth Ambler's Master Distiller John Little. You can check out the menu below.

The exploding popularity of bourbon and rye are driving the revival of two old American traditions. The first is that of the small scale distiller, working with local grains and producing a unique spirit unlike any other. The second is that of the rectifier or independent bottler whose skill is the ability to hunt down particularly fine barrels of whiskey distilled by others but aged and combined to his/her own specifications.

John Little of Smooth Ambler Distillery fully embraces both of these traditions, distilling a wheated bourbon called Yearling and tracking down particularly fine examples of bourbon and rye that he bottles under the Old Scout label. We support both of these endeavors and have chosen to showcase his whiskies with a dinner in our back room.
