American Single Malt Tasting @ Char No. 4

Tuesday, April 24, 2012 - 8:00pm

Single malts have traditionally meant one thing: Scotch. But with the dizzying rise
of craft distilling stateside, old definitions don't always apply. This current
crop of creative distillers shirks tradition. And thus: American single malt whiskey
arrived. Distilleries from California to New York are experimenting with the old
world method, distilling a spirit from 100% malted barley, with varied and delicious
results.

Join us this Tuesday, April 24th at 8pm for an overview of this brave new world
of whiskey - where they may spell the word on the bottle with an "e," like a Yank,
but make the hooch inside like a Scot. We'll taste four different American single
malts (with a nip of an iconic single malt Scotch to compare to). We'll discuss,
nosh on snacks from the kitchen, and compare notes. These whiskies are not bound
to European tradition, and are determined to stand apart. Just like the land they
hail from.
The single malts tasted will be as follows:
Glenfiddich 12 Year - Speyside, Scotland
St. George - Alameda, CA
Pine Barrens - Long Island, NY
Stranahan's - Denver, CO
McCarthy's - Portland, OR
$45 Per Person. Reservations will be accepted immediately and with only 20 seats
available a quick response is suggested if you want to guarantee yourself a spot.
