What is Craft? A Panel Discussion of Craft Spirits and Walk around Tasting of Local Craft Whiskeys

4 - 5pm: Panel Discussion
5 - 7pm: Walk around Tasting of Local Craft Whiskies

Defining what makes a product ‘craft’ has become a heated debate in the industry. Many identify a craft product by the total volume a distillery can produce, but can large industrial distilleries produce craft products? Or, more importantly, can they still be considered craft? How do we separate and define craft between categories?

Here at Astor, we have the unique opportunity to work with such a wide range of distillers who make spectacular products, it’s tough for us to limit one’s craft by how much a producer makes. There are large producers who release exclusive, small batch, and even single barrel ranges that are more than worthy of an Astor Craft designation. Guaranteed, not everyone will share this view, so we invite you to join the debate at our panel discussion featuring four panelists who all work in the distilled spirits industry, but in different areas and with various products. If you would like to prime your thoughts, and your palates, join us for a comprehensive seminar with our spirits buyers prior to the panel discussion. Astor Craft: VIP Seminar

Following the discussion, some of our favorite local, New York craft producers will be joining us to pour some of their whiskey offerings as well as to continue the “What Is Craft?” conversation, alongside custom cocktails, single barrel expressions, and hors d’oeuvres in a relaxed, walk around environment.

Guests Will Receive
