In a Mellow Tone: Tennessee Whiskey @ Char No. 4

By Thomas Turnbull - Posted on 08 April 2015

Saturday, April 11, 2015 - 4:00pm

Whiskeys: Collier & McKeel Tennessee Whiskey, Jack Daniel's Single Barrel, George Dickel Barrel Select, Corsair Triple Smoke

Although thoughts of American whiskey make our minds turn first to Kentucky, there is no denying the great whiskey coming from Tennessee. Traditionally filtered through ten feet of sugar maple charcoal before going into the barrel, Tennessee whiskey developed a reputation as a particularly smooth, and mellow drink. Despite this strong tradition, it was not until 2013 that the Tennessee legislature passed law defining what can and cannot be called Tennessee whiskey and has more recently considered revising the category once again.

In this class we will taste four of the finest expressions of whiskey from the Volunteer state.
