Moonshine ‘n’ Mooncakes

Many cultures around the world have a celebration revolving around the traditional time of harvest. The end of summer, beginning of fall. A time when people come together to celebrate the bounty of the growing season — and have one last, big party before the coming of winter. In the old Celtic religions of Scotland, it’s Mabon, the Autumnal Equinox. In Chinese culture, it’s the Mid-Autumn Festival, also known by a name derived from one of the delicacies associated with it: Mooncake Day.

Moonshine ‘n’ Mooncakes brings these two festivals together, combining the food of Chinese Mooncake Day with the results of a good Scottish barley harvest. Of course, that barley has been distilled into a single malt scotch whisky by the good people at Springbank, one of two Scottish distilleries to control every aspect of the process, from malting the barley to bottling.

Join the Whisky Roundtable at Oriental Garden on September 22nd, 2016 for a celebration of these two autumnal holidays in a way that would make the ancestors proud: by eating and drinking your fill.
