Camp Whiskey is a project committed to bringing together our whiskey community with the best that New York City in the summer has to offer. It is hosted by Jeff Galli (Char No. 4), Jonathan Wingo (The Whiskey Shop) and Gary He (bon vivant).

The whiskeys that we choose are the whiskeys that we love to drink, have been dying to try, and are most excited to share with you. Many expressions are unavailable in the US and will be sourced from Scotland, Ireland, Japan and beyond. Each week's program will center on a different style of whiskey.

Most of all, Camp Whiskey will create an informal atmosphere in some spectacular Brooklyn locations to taste, learn, and just relax.

About the Camp Counselors

Jeff Galli has been behind the bar at Char No. 4 (Brooklyn) since it opened in 2008. In that time, he's had the opportunity to learn from whiskey greats such as Dave Broom, Dr. Bill Lumsden, and Fred Noe. In the distilling world, he's worked with Nicole Austin at King's County Distillery, testing new recipes, and consulting on blend and barrel readiness as well as Nick Cowles, making apple brandy on a food fired still in Vermont. Last year Jeff was a judge at the New York Independent Spirits Competition. But perhaps he's best known for the bottle of OGD114 that accompanies him, like a calling card, to important social events.

Jonathan Wingo runs The Whiskey Shop, a boutique liquor store focusing in American craft whiskeys, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. After a fortuitous run of press write-ups for the shop, he was lucky enough to be chosen as a member of Forbes 30 Under 30 to watch in the Food and Beverage category. He conducts whiskey classes and private tastings. In his free time, he flirts with his favorite American craft distillers, and distills a bit.
