Sherried Malt vs. American Oak Aged Malt

By ellie - Posted on 23 June 2017

Tuesday, January 30, 2018 - 5:00pm

This is the main separating element when it comes to Scotch whisky styles: while the length of maturation, the shapes of the stills, the warehousing conditions and the alcoholic strengths of the releases, etc., all play a role in the creation of a variety of flavor profiles, in the end, the wood makes up most of it. Ex-Sherry butt or ex-American whiskey barrel matured Scotch? Bring in a friend you can spar with during this battle!

This class is part of our "Spirituous Battles” series…covering two major spirits categories or sub-categories and opposing them in a fun way. Bottled water, nuts and crakers are provided while we investigate a 4 x 1 ounce tasting flight.
