Sonoma to Tokyo @ Perdition

So, did you think that all that comes out of Sonoma is wine? How dare you. Did you think that the Japanese only make Scotch-style whisky? Okay, if you were in possession of that particular thought, you're probably quite knowledgeable about whisky, but still incorrect.

On December 9th Jill Kumor will be visiting us at our Perdition bar base camp, representing Sonoma County Distilling Co. At Sonoma they believe in the concept of "grain to glass." In other words, every part of the production process is done in-house, from mashing to fermentation to distillation. What emerges is a small but innovative portfolio of whiskeys.

Jill is from Blueprint, which sells and markets a carefully curated selection of boutique distilleries, which includes Sonoma County Distilling Co.

After we enjoy a couple from Sonoma's selection, we will get to try the Nikka Coffey Grain. Made mostly from corn instead of malted barley, this whiskey defies perceptions of what a Japanese whiskey should be. We will learn that there are both American and Scottish influences in this whisky but that, at the end of the day, it is unequivocally Japanese.

Food included, with vegetarian options.
