Whiskey Business: American Whiskey & Cheese

By ellie - Posted on 17 April 2017

Friday, April 28, 2017 - 6:30pm

Join a Murray's Certified Cheese Professional and Noah Rothbaum, The Daily Beast's Chief Cocktail Correspondent, on a whiskey and cheese pairing journey that will take your taste buds on a trip. Explore the origins of American whiskey, as well as the wide variety of aromas and tastes of the best whiskey the USA has to offer. Whether they're light and honeyed, have a rich, vanilla sweetness, or a kick of spicy rye, whiskey's characteristics create a fantastic foil for cheese. Join us as we learn why the perfect companion for cheese may lay in grains, rather than grapes. Each guest will leave with a copy of Noah's book:The Art of American Whiskey: A Visual History of the Nation’s Most Storied Spirit, through 100 Iconic Labels!

Noah Rothbaum is The Daily Beast’s Chief Cocktail Correspondent and the editor of its new Drink + Food section. He is also the author of the book The Art of American Whiskey: A Visual History of the Nation’s Most Storied Spirit, through 100 Iconic Labels and the associate editor of the forthcoming The Oxford Companion to Spirits and Cocktails. Rothbaum’s first book, The Business of Spirits: How Savvy Marketers, Innovative Distillers, and Entrepreneurs Changed How We Drink was published in 2007. According to Chicago magazine’s chief dining critic, Jeff Ruby, “Rothbaum knows drinking like Newton knew gravity, but he’s not all high and mighty about it, creating laws and whatnot.” And The Wall Street Journal’s Speakeasy blog called him “one of the smartest tipplers (and writers on spirits) we know.”
