USQ presents Whiskey Country with Dave Pickerell

Thursday, March 06, 7:00pm - 8:30pm

USQ is pleased to welcome Master Distiller Dave Pickerell to the Salon for an examination of brown spirits that Bourbon, Rye, and Malt lovers won't want to miss! As current Master Distiller of Hillrock Estate Distillery in the Hudson Valley and former Master Distiller of Kentucky's Maker's Mark, Dave's perspective on the hottest category in spirits is a vast one. From distilling for one of the 'big boys' before turning his focus to smaller craft distilleries like Hillrock and Whistle Pig (yes, he crafts their rye as well!), Dave's experience and insight are unmatched.

Join Dave Pickerell as he guides attendees through a flight of seven whiskies, comparing and contrasting the 'big boys' versus the 'craft crew' with selections from New York, Kentucky, and Ireland. Discover the production methods and art of distillation from a man who has seen both sides of the business. Of course, you can't have bourbon and rye without barbeque! Following Dave's formal instruction, guests may look forward to a full spread of brisket, ribs, pulled pork, and all the fixings from the East Village's Mighty Quinn's Barbeque!

Featured whiskies include (in order of tasting):

Woodford Reserve Bourbon
Hillrock Solera Bourbon
Maker's Mark Bourbon
Red Breast 12yr Old Irish Whiskey
Hillrock Single Malt Whiskey
Knob Creek Rye
Hillrock Double Cask Rye
