The Cocktails that Made Whiskey Famous with Elayne Duke

Location: The Study
Price: $89.00
Date: Fri, Jan 13th, 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

As the temperature outside continues to drop, there couldn’t be a better time of year to cozy up to a few warming whiskey cocktails, alongside a dash of whiskey history and lore.

In this hands-on class, we’ll begin by tasting through a plethora of American whiskies of various styles and origins. Next we’ll focus on the various ways whiskey has been enjoyed throughout the decades as we create (and sip) modern and traditional cocktails such as the Mint Julep, The Sazerac, The Whiskey Smash, and one of Elayne’s own creations, The Roadster.

A quote from letter written by General Simon Bolivar: “A mint julep is not a product of a formula. It is a ceremony and must be performed by a gentleman possessing a true sense of the artistic, a deep reverence for the ingredients and a proper appreciation of the occasion. It is a rite that must not be entrusted to a novice, a statistician, nor a Yankee. It is a heritage of the Old South, and emblem of hospitality, and a vehicle in which noble minds can travel together upon the flower-strewn paths of a happy and congenial thought.
