Celebrate the great outdoors with Arctic explorer Christine Dennison and Westland Whiskey cocktails.
About this Event
In partnership with Filson & Westland Distillery, Atlas Obscura is proud to present a one-of-kind Adventure Hour, where we’ll be sharing harrowing stories of journeys in the great outdoors.
Hosted by Atlas Obscura founder Dylan Thuras, we’ll be joined by Arctic explorer Christine Dennison to discuss what it’s like traveling to some of the most remote places in the world. We’ll learn how to mentally and physically prepare for trips, what it takes and why it’s important to push past your comfort zone and explore the world around you.
Whiskey Ambassador Brian Mura of Westland Distillery will also be showing us how to make camping cocktails with their award-winning whiskey made in the heart of Seattle, Washington. Together with Master Distiller Matt Hofmann, the duo from Westland will discuss why the Pacific Northwest is ideally suited for making single malt whiskey. World-class barley fields, fresh water from the Cascade Mountains, and a culture of questioning long-standing conventional thinking has led to a distillery that both honors the traditions of distilling and adds something worthwhile at the same time. Something new and distinctly American.
In an effort to support our friends and neighbors in the food and service industry by helping restaurants and sustainable farms rebuild, tickets for this experience are sold on a sliding donation and all proceeds will be donated to the Restaurant Reboot Relief Program.
