Corn. Wheat. Rye. Barley. Rice. These are the grains that bring your favorite whiskies to life.
Join New York Adventure Club (http://www.nyadventureclub.com/) for a whiskey tasting workshop where we'll taste the variety of grains that compose many of the whiskies found throughout the world, all inside a private mansion originally built in 1899 for the Civic Club.
Led by Kurt Maitland, founder of the Manhattan Whiskey Club and Deputy Editor of the Whiskey Reviewer, our unique experience at this magnificent space in Manhattan will include:
• An overview of whiskey – what it is, how it's made, along with some insight into what is happening in the booming industry
• The 101 on grains and how they affect the flavor profile of your favorite whiskies
• A tasting of several different whiskies (including a single malt Scotch, a rye, a wheated bourbon and a rice whisky from Japan) so that you can experience the distinct properties of corn, wheat, rye, barley, and rice
• A chance to mingle with other adventurers who enjoy whiskey as much as you do
