Scotch 101 class @ The Flatiron Room

By The Flatiron Room - Posted on 27 March 2013

Tuesday, April 23, 2013 - 7:00pm

So you thought all Scotch was smokey and peaty? Do you know what peat is or smells like? Did you know that there are over 90 distilleries in Scotland who make whiskies that do not feature smoke or peat? After taking this class, you’ll understand peat’s role in the production of Scotch, as well as completely understand concepts like cask-strength, chill filtration, and other bottle-label snippets. Appetizers will be provided.

The tasting is led by Heather Greene, our Whiskey Sommelier, Director of Whiskey Education, and the former ambassador for Glenfiddich. She is one of the world’s only certified female whiskey experts and has an incredible nose for discerning breathtaking bourbons. Even a beginner will walk away with pronounced knowledge and a greater appreciation for whiskey.

All classes are held upstairs in our tasting room. The space has been designed specifically for these classes and all details have been considered. A long 16’ black walnut tasting table, moderator podium, projection screen, sound-proofed curtains and a separate PA system. Tastings start on time, so please arrive early to avoid any interruption.

From the beginner to the most avid dark spirits lover, our classes are designed to continue taste development and excitement.
